Founded in 2010 and located in Seoul, Wooridul School was created to provide an education specifically oriented towards young North Korean defectors' as they adjust to their lives in South Korea. Unfortunately, due to the harrowing circumstances of their defections, North Koreans oftentimes cannot receive the education they deserve.
With 25 students and 25 teachers (most of whom are volunteers), Wooridul School strives to provide a comprehensive education, including personal and domestic counseling, at no cost. It is the staff's hope that what they learn at Wooridul School will help pave the way for long and prosperous lives.

In addition to providing educational services, we would also like to offer our students a chance to focus on and improve their physical health--an opportunity that most did not have in North Korea.
Our school is not very big, so we do not have space for sports, but with the fundraised money we would like to buy a few small exercise machines so the students can use them during their break times. We think this will greatly benefit the overall well-being of our students and also fit well with the fundraiser’s marathon theme!
